About Bornette

We are Studio Bornette, Janette and Jonas Bornmarker, a studio-cum-shop in Visby on Gotland, off the Swedish coast. Janette has a background as an illustrator and graphic designer and Jonas in marketing and project management.

A few years ago, we moved to Gotland, in the middle of the Baltic Sea and settled in Visby. We wanted to make a change from our l lives in Stockholm. We dreamed of creating something of our own, and the idea of finding a platform for our creativity made us constantly look for possibilities.

Our ambition was, and is to create a showroom that inspires both us and our customers and where we sell things we like. We found that place and opened a small shop in 2017. Now we have open an online store too and it is just as inspiring.

We curate our shop inspired by creative experiences from our lives and the island we live on. We value sustainable craftsmanship, well chosen materials, high artistic quality and playfullness. In addition to our own design, the range of products includes the work of local and international artists and artisans mixed with selected brands. It is a changing collection of prints and originals, art supplies and books, design objects and one of a kinds. Things we like.

The most effective way to do it, is to do it.

– Amelia Earhart

Visit our shop in Visby

The Shop is located on a secluded alley, in the heart of Visby on the island of Gotland in Sweden. The anonymous exterior, especially after closing hours, has titled us Visby’s most secret shop. The building have a long history back to the 12th century. It has served as a medieval warehouse, textile dyeing in the 19th century and most recently as a bike storage, before we moved in.
